Privacy Policy

Current ("the App") is a fishing conditions app developed by Terence James Smith. This policy describes how we handle your information.

The Short Version

We don't collect your personal information. Your data stays on your device and in your private iCloud account. We don't run ads, we don't track you, and we don't sell data.

Information Stored on Your Device

The following data is created and stored locally on your device:

• Trip logs — dates, locations, conditions, species, flies, notes, and photos you record
• Preferences — display settings, favorite locations, target species, unit preferences
• Custom locations — fishing spots you add, including coordinates and names
• Cached data — weather forecasts, river flow data, and fishing reports are cached locally for offline use

Trip log photos are saved to the app's local storage on your device and are not uploaded to any server.

iCloud Sync

If you have iCloud enabled, your trip logs sync to your private iCloud account via Apple CloudKit. This data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple. It is stored in your personal iCloud container — we cannot access it. You can disable iCloud sync in your device's Settings.

Location Data

The App requests location access ("when in use" only) to find nearby rivers and show local fishing conditions. Your location is used on-device to identify nearby water and is sent to weather and flow data services (described below) to retrieve local conditions. We do not store, log, or track your location history.

Face ID / Touch ID

The App offers an optional feature to protect "secret" fishing locations with biometric authentication. Face ID or Touch ID authentication is handled entirely by your device's operating system. No biometric data is accessed, stored, or transmitted by the App.

Camera & Photos

The App requests camera access to let you add photos to trip logs. Photos are stored locally on your device. They are not uploaded to any external service.

Third-Party Services

The App contacts the following services to provide fishing conditions data. Only location coordinates or station identifiers are sent — no personal information is transmitted.

• Apple WeatherKit — weather forecasts and current conditions based on coordinates
• NOAA National Weather Service — fallback weather data for US locations (public federal API, no authentication)
• USGS Water Services — real-time river flow and water temperature from federal gauges (public federal API, no authentication)
• WSC — real-time river flow and water temperature for Canadian waters
• CEHQ — real-time river flow and water temperature for Quebec
• NOAA Tides & Currents — tide predictions for coastal locations (public federal API, no authentication)
• Anthropic Claude API — AI-generated fishing intelligence (hatch calendars, regulations, fly shop recommendations). Location name and coordinates are sent; no personal data is included. Requests are routed through a private proxy and responses are cached locally.
• Fly shop RSS feeds — publicly available fishing reports from fly shop websites. Standard read-only HTTP requests with no user data transmitted.

Subscriptions

Current Pro subscriptions are managed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect, process, or store any payment information. The App only checks your subscription entitlement status (active or inactive) via Apple's StoreKit framework.

Analytics & Advertising

The App does not include any analytics SDKs, advertising networks, or user tracking. We do not collect usage metrics, device identifiers, or behavioral data.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to third parties for any purpose. The only off-device data transmission is to the weather, flow, tide, and AI services described above, and to your private iCloud account if enabled.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The App does not require account creation or collect personal information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
